The quotation journey

Specification in. Written quotation out.

A corrugated box is made to order, so there is no catalogue price to look up. What exists instead is a sequence: you describe the box, it is reviewed by a person, and a written quotation is prepared against that specific specification. Seven steps, set out below in full.

Final specifications and pricing will be stated in the written quotation. No account registration is required to request one.

  1. You

    Step 1: Configure

Enter your dimensions, quantity, material preference and printing requirement. Multiple box items can be included in a single request.

Nothing is sent yet. You can change any value, add further box items, or leave and come back to it.

  2. You

    Step 2: Submit

Review your specifications and submit. No account registration is required, and you receive a reference number immediately.

A reference number in the form GCA-RFQ-YYYY-NNNN is issued at the moment of submission and identifies the request in every message afterwards.

  3. GC Abucay

    Step 3: Technical review

Your requirements are reviewed. If anything is unclear or incomplete, you are contacted for clarification before costing.

This is the stage where an incomplete or ambiguous specification is resolved, rather than being guessed at and priced incorrectly.

  4. GC Abucay

    Step 4: Formal quotation

A written quotation is prepared and sent to you through a secure link, stating pricing, terms and validity.

The quotation states the specification it is based on, so you can check that what was quoted is what you asked for.

  5. You

    Step 5: Accept or revise

Accept the quotation online, or request a revision. A revised specification is issued as a new quotation version.

Versions are kept. An earlier version cannot be accepted once it has been superseded, so there is never ambiguity about which figures apply.

  6. You

    Step 6: Purchase order

Upload your purchase order against the accepted quotation to confirm the order.

The purchase order is attached to the accepted quotation version, which is what makes the order specific rather than approximate.

  7. You and GC Abucay

    Step 7: Reorder

Previously accepted specifications remain available, so a repeat order does not have to be specified again from scratch.

A repeat order starts from a specification that has already been reviewed and accepted once.

Before step 1

What to have in front of you.

None of this is mandatory to start. The more of it you can supply at submission, the fewer clarification rounds the review needs.

How to measure correctly
What is going inside
The product, its approximate weight, and whether it is rigid, fragile or irregular in shape.
Internal dimensions
Length, width and height measured inside the box. If you have the product size instead, the dimension guide converts it.
Quantity
The quantity you intend to order. Alternative quantities can be quoted side by side if you are comparing.
Printing requirement
Whether the box is plain, or printed — and if printed, roughly how many colours and what artwork exists.
Handling and storage
How the boxes are stacked, moved and stored, and any moisture or cold-chain exposure.
Delivery or pickup
The delivery location, or that you intend to collect. This is quoted separately from the boxes.

Inside step 3 and 4

What actually moves a corrugated quotation.

These are the factors a quotation is built from. They are listed as factors rather than as prices: no figure is published on this website, because every figure depends on the specification in front of the reviewer.

  • Dimensions

Length, width and height determine the sheet area required per box, which is the largest single driver of material cost.

  • Quantity

Set-up effort is spread across the run, so per-unit cost normally decreases as quantity increases. Alternative quantity tiers can be quoted side by side.

  • Board construction

Single-wall and double-wall constructions differ in strength and in material used. The appropriate construction depends on weight, stacking and handling.

  • Material and appearance

Kraft and white-top surfaces differ in cost and in how printing appears on them.

  • Printing

The number of colours and the printed area affect both the unit price and any one-time plate requirement.

  • Tooling

Die-cut structures and printing plates may carry a one-time set-up charge, which is stated separately in the quotation.

  • Delivery or pickup

Delivery location and arrangement are quoted separately from the boxes themselves.

  • Special requirements

Coatings, structural features, or specific handling conditions are reviewed individually.

This quotation is based on the information and specifications provided and remains subject to final technical review, material availability, artwork confirmation, quantity, delivery location, applicable taxes, and written acceptance. Changes in specifications may require a revised quotation. A quotation request or quotation alone does not constitute a confirmed production order.

Records

Every version is kept, and the accepted one is the one that counts.

A revision does not overwrite what came before it. It is issued as a new version, with its own figures and its own specification. Acceptance is recorded against a specific version, and a version that has been superseded can no longer be accepted. That is what allows a purchase order to be matched to an exact set of specifications rather than to a conversation.

Reordering

A repeat box does not have to be specified twice.

Once a specification has been quoted and accepted, it stays available to you. A repeat request starts from that record, so the dimensions, board and printing do not have to be described again from scratch. Quantities and delivery details can still be changed, and a changed specification is re-reviewed before a new quotation is issued.
